Probate Court

Probate is the process of transferring a deceased person’s estate to those, who are entitled to receive it in accordance with that person’s will, or in the absence of a valid will, by virtue of the Colorado laws on intestacy. Since the early 1970’s and the adoption of the Colorado Probate Code, the probate process, if properly managed by the experienced staff at Naylor & Geisel, P.C., should be accomplished efficiently and cost-effectively. The size of the estate does not dictate how much the fees for the probate will be.

If a deceased person has left a valid explicit will, whether the estate is worth $100,000 or $3 million, the fees and costs may be reasonably similar, depending on the type of assets involved. Our experienced staff will guide the personal representative, who is in charge of administering the estate, to accomplish matters with the least expense and inconvenience to all interested parties, and we shall make certain that all interested parties have access to necessary information to ease anxiety and lessen the possibility for conflict.

The probate process can also be used in cases where out of state residents die owning property in Colorado. If probate has been conducted in another state or not, the laws in this area are consumer friendly, and our office can accomplish the transfer in a timely and cost-effective way.
